What it is

Most real systems need more than one notation. UMStudio.io is one workbench for several, so the models can refer to each other instead of living in separate tools.

One editor, several notations

Switch notation without switching tool, exporting, or re-learning a different interface.

Links across notations

A SysML port that speaks I2C can point at the timing diagram showing what that means on the wire — clock stretching included.

Text where text is better

Terse notations stay hand-authorable, with the diagram as a live projection of what you typed.

Open formats

Each notation reads and writes its own standard format, so models are portable out of the tool.

How it works

One engine, several notations on top of it. That is what makes a reference from a SysML port to a timing diagram possible at all — they are not separate tools bolted together.

Notations SysML, UML, BPMN, DCR, OLOG and WaveDrom, each with its own editor and its own parser.
Links References between notations, addressed by qualified name rather than by internal id — so a link survives the file being reopened.
Scope Narrow a large model to one concern: how far to follow links outward, and how far to open containment downward.
Core Shared model store, validation and layout. Work here lands in both products.
Export Each notation writes back out in its own standard format.

Only need SysML?

SysML Online is the same engine with the other notations switched off — a focused SysML v2 environment, without a notation picker you would never use. UMStudio.io is the workbench; SysML Online is the focused option.

Everything marked shared above lands in both, because it is the same codebase underneath. Cross-paradigm linking is the part that only makes sense here, since it needs more than one notation to link between.
